介词in， on， by 表示地方、地点、位置的用法区别：
一、 on 把地方、地点、位置当作一个平面，表示地点时，指“在……之上(与表面接触)”，“靠近、接壤”及“在左右边”都用on.
例：
The author's name is on the cover of the book. 在书的封面上有作者的名字。
There are no prices on this menu. 在这菜单上没有价钱。
You are standing on my foot. 你踏到我的脚了。
二、大处in . in把地方、地点、位置当作一个范围或一个封闭的空间：
例： I live in London. 我住在伦敦
We have a meeting in Beijing. 我们有北京有一个会议。
Mars is in the Solar System. 火星在太阳系里。
三，by 用在表示位置(有在旁、贴近、靠近之意)如：
by the fire 在炉边 ，by the seaside 在海边
